Position Overview:
Lancaster Airport Authority is seeking a dependable and skilled Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively while independently managing tasks. This role requires flexibility, reliability, and a commitment to high standards of performance and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of airport equipment, including passenger vehicles, trucks, tractors, man lifts, diesel engines, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and safety inspections to ensure all vehicles and equipment remain in operational and compliant condition.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records using digital or manual tracking systems.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and execute repairs with minimal supervision.
- Coordinate parts ordering and maintain an organized work environment.
- Support airfield operations as needed, including snow removal, inspections, and emergency response readiness.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational/trade school preferred
- 3–5 years of relevant mechanical experience with both light and heavy-duty vehicles
- Valid driver’s license; must be at least 21 years of age
- Capable of lifting 50+ lbs. and working in varied weather conditions
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Experience with diesel systems, hydraulics, and record-keeping is strongly preferred
